About Skye Bird Publishing
Books that look beneath the surface
Skye Bird Publishing is an independent publisher creating thoughtful, practical books about personal growth, relationships and human behaviour.
Our books explore the patterns beneath the things people experience every day — the responses we repeat, the relationships we navigate, the ways we try to create change, and what may be happening underneath it all.
Rather than offering another list of things to do, Skye Bird books are interested in a different question: what is organising the response in the first place? Because a response that makes sense from one state can look entirely different from another.
Meet Skye Brookes
Skye Brookes is an author, educator and mindset coach whose work has explored human development, behaviour and change for more than twenty years.
With a background in early childhood education and extensive training in NLP, Timeline Therapy™, hypnosis and primitive reflex integration, her work has moved across developmental, behavioural and mindset approaches — always with the same underlying curiosity: what is driving the response we can see?
Her work as an NLP practitioner, mindset coach and primitive reflex integration practitioner has brought her alongside adults, children and families navigating patterns that can often look confusing from the outside.
Across those different fields, one principle continues to emerge: lasting change rarely comes from simply trying harder to produce a different outcome. The response is organised by the state beneath it — and when that state changes, a different response can make sense.
Skye Bird Publishing grew from that perspective — creating accessible books that bring those ideas into everyday experiences, from personal growth and relationships to family, behaviour and the nervous system.
Skye lives in Perth, Western Australia.
A different way to understand change
Much of personal development begins with the visible problem:
How do I stop doing this?
How do I make myself do that?
How do I get a different result?
Skye Bird books begin one layer underneath.
A behaviour, thought pattern or physical response that seems unhelpful rarely exists for no reason. Something is organising it. Something has made that response make sense.
From a different state, the question itself can change.
Instead of:
How do I force this to change?
it can become:
What would allow something different to become possible?
That shift — from fighting the response to recognising that it makes sense from the state organising it — sits at the heart of the books we publish. When the state changes, what makes sense changes with it — allowing a new response to emerge rather than forcing it into place.
